Change

Maine's seatbelt law has changed. The legislature has made failing to wear a seatbelt a primary offense. This means a Police Officer can stop you in your vehicle if he/she sees that you are not wearing a seatbelt. Over the past several years, it has been a secondary violation. This meant the Officer had to stop you for another violation before you could be charged with a seatbelt violation. If you have any questions about the seatbelt law, please give us a call at 338-5255 during business hours or 338-2420 after business hours and on weekends.
